who is this guy and why could he avoid the bullets in #supernatural’s episode

And the next question is: What does he hold in his hands?
Apparently he’s the guy with the French accent and that’s supposed to be Serge Ladouceur, the director of photography. No idea why he was able to dodge the bullets though.
